Assembling the Dream Team!

One of the biggest blessings of being part of God's kingdom is the fact that we don't have to do life alone. This past month has involved a lot of recruiting for ministry (in one case, recruiting for BCM as a whole, and in the other recruiting for the curriculum project.)
Recruiting for a Future Team: LBC Missions Conference

The first week of February, I had the privilege of representing BCM International at LBC's Missions Conference. Garrett Lowe, the VP of Personnel, and I talked to dozens of students throughout the week.
Turns out that college students are up for just about anything. Students lined up to try the durian fruit taffy (imagine if you put natural gas and raw onions in a blender and you are starting to get close to the smell), and some of them even finished it!

While there was much silliness to be had during the week, Garrett and I also had some incredible conversations with students throughout the week. Some students believe that God is calling them to missions and are exploring what that might entail. Others were interested in hearing what God is doing around the world so they knew how to pray.
It was fun hear how God is working in the lives of these incredible students, but also to share all that God is doing globally with those who have their whole lives ahead of them to serve Him!
BCM's Curriculum All-Stars Team:
In January, I received the news that we received $150,000 to develop a training curriculum for ministry leaders around the world.

One of the unique aspects of the curriculum that BCM's developing is that we are designing it to be truly international and trans-cultural. There times when training ministry has involved westerners writing curriculum based on what they think that the rest of the world needs to know, but never actually take the time to ask.
Instead, we are not only taking the time to listen to the whole world as we write the curriculum, but we are actually trying to include representatives from around the world on the curriculum development team!
That way, we have qualified people from around the world who can say:

"Hey, that won't work in my culture, can we do this instead?"
"Most languages in my region don't have a word for that. Is there a simpler term we can use so it is easier to translate?"
"This activity will leave people confused the way it is designed right now. This may work better in a number of different countries."
"How does your view of this topic take that passage into account?"
A lot of this month has involved reaching out to potential curriculum team members from around the globe so that we can make something that will be useful everywhere, since everywhere contributed to its design.
Prayers and Praises:
Curriculum Development Grant:
Praise God for His provision through this grant.
Pray for wisdom as we make foundational decisions about the curriculum.
Pray that God will bring the right people to the curriculum development team.
Pray that God will go before us in this project and that we will be attentive to His leading in it.
Partnership Development (Support-Raising):
Praise God that I am up to 34% funding! God has been faithfully bringing partners to be who are committed to pray and provide as I'm on this journey
Pray that God will lead me to those He has planned for me to partner with.
Current Support: 34% |
